NaNoWriMo - or National Novel Writing Month to give the full title - is one month of the year when authors around the world group together with a singular goal: to write 50,000 words on a project to make November the most productive month of the calendar year.
Now some of you will ask a poignant question - if writers and authors are truly committed then why do they need a dedicated month to focus their efforts? Well as I am sure all writers reading this will agree, writing is bloody hard work! Every day life is full of distractions taking precious time away from creating quality copy - work, family, household chores; they all strip away at a writer's free time and lead to deadlines slipping and projects remaining unfinished.
That is where NaNoWriMo comes in - it is your chance as an author to dedicated a month to smashing any objectives you have - whether it is finishing a current manuscript, or finally getting round to jotting down a completely new story. The great part is that you will support around you from people in exactly the same situation; authors linking together to offer support, help and guidance to make your dreams finally come to life.
So this November make sure you turn off your phone, disconnect the tv and use Twitter sparingly; this is your month to take the first step in achieving your goals, don't let anybody stop you, especially yourself!
Join at the NaNoWriMo website ( http://nanowrimo.org/ ) and follow them on Twitter @NaNoWriMo and commit to it today.
Finally add me as buddy on their site, keep me updated about how you are progressing and let's do this together!
